Acre & Holt

At Acre & Holt we design and make a collection of tweed workwear, baker boy caps and gardening accessories for people who live, love and work outdoors.  Tweed waistcoats and working gilets for men and women, from our ‘Hort Couture’ collection, are designed and made in Somerset, our tweeds however are woven for us in the Scottish borders.

We launched our working gilet at RHS Chelsea in September 2021, in collaboration with landscape architect and author of Sustainable Garden, Marian Boswall.  In 2022 we launched our innovative garden wrap – a leather and tweed wraparound tool belt for keen gardeners, that can be personalised with a leather name tag to make the perfect gift to last a lifetime.

Our mission at Acre & Holt is to offer a sustainable, slow fashion alternative to the ‘micro-fibre shedding fleece’ that will instead become a friend for life or your ‘Acker’ in old Somerset speak!

I decided during lockdown to pivot my tweed clothing fashion business into something more practical and purposeful, with the aim of creating long lasting pieces for your working wardrobe that will both keep you warm and dry, whilst working outdoors.

I design tweeds with a mill in the Scottish Borders who weave for me and turn these into working gilets and waistcoats for men and women in Somerset.  I also offer a made to measure bespoke tailoring service for trouser suits and skirts and jackets in velvet, corduroy and tweeds in the studio annexe in Frome.

In 2022 I designed a thornproof tweed garden wrap for all your garden essentials, that can be personalised with an embossed leather gift tag to make the ultimate gardening gift.  I collaborate with traditional cappers in Yorkshire who make eight piece baker boy caps for us, lined in vibrant dutch wax, and another fellow Somerset business, Victoria Ogilvy Essence, makes the most delicious and nourishing Gardeners’ Hand Balm for Acre & Holt as well.

I want to make you garments that become friends for life and that do not cost the earth in production.
